Take the time to scan or create any document that you think you might need in an application. If you don't have immediate access to a scanner, gather up as many items that you think you will need and go to your local public library or print shop to get it done all in one go.
Examples: Passport Photo page, Transcripts, Reference Letters, English Test Results, CVs, Awards, Certificates, etc...
It's always a good idea to keep digital copies of your documents anyways, so take the time to scan as many things as possible - you never know what you might need! Usually when you scan a document, the machine gives it a default name like 'document1.pdf'. Change it to something like 'Passport photo' to not only help you find documents easily but to prevent you from accidentally uploading the wrong document in an application. Make sure all of these documents are saved in colour and scanned right side up.
💊 Application deadlines Applications for Med School are one of the first to be due so make sure you have everything ready as soon as possible. Some schools even require you to submit documentations in July - almost a year before you will receive a decision letter**.**
📖 Don't Accidentally Send the Wrong Thing to the Swedish Government! You would be surprised by how demanding the schools can be in terms of documents, and how easily you could make a serious mistake. One of the graduate schools I applied to in Sweden asked for my birth certificate, my citizenship card, my high school diploma and a verification letter of every job or extracurricular experience I listed. It pretty much asked for every piece of paper with my name on it since birth. If these documents were not scanned in colour, they were considered invalid and could not be counted towards my application.
With Swedish apps, you can't overwrite documents on its portal with another one if you accidentally upload the wrong one. The common application system for Sweden is government operated and once you give them a document, it becomes a property of the Swedish government. You are allowed to upload another document if you accidentally send the wrong thing, but the Swedish government now has every right to read and judge you based on what you upload. I accidentally uploaded a document they specifically instructed us to mail and I ended up being waitlisted from the school.
TL;DR: don't disregard scanning documents - it's actually a very big deal
